about me
Alania Mariano is a multimedia artist working across photography, film, and design. Born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania she has always had a knack for using a camera and collaborating with others. With a minor in Fashion History and Culture, she expanded her practice by studying abroad in Italy and Tanzania, immersing herself in diverse cultures. Mariano was awarded Summer Scholar and Winter Fellowships, to deepen her knowledge of creating moving image work. Outside the classroom, she served as Art Director for Synergy Fashion Group and Photography Director for UDress Magazine, where she led creative teams and contributed to the development of final magazine publications through hands-on direction.
Mariano’s lifelong interest in fashion informs her work, which includes a critical take on the industry and its lack of sustainability. Recently she has experimented with various photographic processes, including using her 35mm SLR and large-format cameras, as well as printing cyanotypes on textiles. She blends dreamy visuals with soft, muted earth tones to evoke a sense of harmony and emotional resonance. Through continued travel and creative exploration, Mariano aims to make work that stays with the viewer—whether it’s through visual beauty, the passion it reflects, or the deeper message embedded within.
